The Blue Leak: Why Swimming Pools Fail in Malta

A swimming pool is the ultimate stress test for construction materials. It holds tons of water pressure, endures chlorine chemical attack, and cycles between hot sun and cool water.

The Failure Point: The "Rigid" Mistake

Many contractors treat a pool like a basement. They use rigid waterproofing. When the pool is filled, the concrete shell "settles" and flexes under the weight. Rigid waterproofing cracks. The pool leaks.

The ZNR Elastic Protocol

1. The Membrane (ZNR WP 2K SE):
A fully flexible, two-component cementitious barrier. It bridges cracks up to 1.5mm. It moves with the pool shell, not against it.
2. The Weakest Link: The Grout:
Cement grout dissolves in saltwater/chlorine over 5 years. It turns to powder.
Solution: Use ZNR Epoxy Grout. It is impervious to chemicals and never erodes.

The Golden Rule

Never tile directly onto concrete in a pool. Always apply the WP 2K SE layer first to create a chemical tank within the structural shell.
